Critical for getting and staying ahead
- Clean and easy to navigate on a desktop
- Symbols and shapes are simple & easy to edit
- Group work features allows free thinking as well as focused collaboration
- The software is intuitive for new people while remaining powerful for more experienced folks
- As always with these kinds of software's, there is opportunity to allow for connections to other software's like excel or Smartsheet
- I would like to see some sort of earmarking for certain symbols to allow for pulling something like (in our case) all 'communications sent' from multiple boards into one view
- I think video/ written tutorials to help guide a user to a useful template along with how to use/facilitate a session with it would be helpful.
Best all-round free drawing diagram tool.
- Solutioning the custom solutions where we want to get clear understanding of how the tech stacks are being used
- Process flow diagrams
- Structure based designs and architecture
- Branded logos like AWS S3, SFTP etc.
- The AI generation is too basic. May be needs training with detailed data
- The chart when shared is sharing all the tabs. Can we limit to 1 tab
New to Lucid and Very Impressed
- Integration with external applications.
- Free form flexibility on the board.
- ability to import Jira user stories, recategorize them and make updates that feed back into the originating story on the Jira board.
- As mentioned earlier, expand integrations - with Rally, and PPM tools such as Clarity and Accolade.
We have been using LucidChart at INTERTEL for the last 4 years, and it is a really excellent chart and diagram solution. We are using it to map out all our processes across the whole company, from sales and marketing to operations and support. Even our programming department uses it for their internal processes, and they have been using SCRUM internally. Having all our processes mapped out really help us to understand if there are any roadblocks in our organization, and the correct flow of information from one department to the other. But the main use we have for it is that it allows us to assign responsibilities for each part of the process to the correct person/department, and in our industry having this information is key. Also, it is a plus that the cost of the license is not that expensive compared to other similar solutions, and even the free version has enough features and options to help out everyone. We recommend LucidChart to everyone that asks us about it.
- Mapping out processes and workflows
- Allowing the whole enterprise to see how each process interacts with the other departments
- Pointing out areas of opportunity between each process
- Eliminating unneeded steps in each process
- Helping the new hires to understand the process and areas that they are going to help with
- Printing each chart out and having them in every department helps when trying to change or update a process
- The free version offers a lot of functionality but you cannot print the complete chart
- Translate between languages, our company is in Mexico but we have a lot of people coming from the USA
- Add the option to import or make our own shapes and chart types
It is not so well suited for companies that only have one process that they follow all day long, or that they cannot change or update because of company policies of requirements. Also, if your industry is regulated by the government, it does not make sense to have all your processes in LucidChart, since you are probably getting a lot of them from the government and cannot make any updates to them, or change them in any way shape or form.
Great Tool For Building And Sharing Flowcharts
I use Lucidchart to document and understand existing business processes with my business stakeholders. I also use it to give high-level outlines of the solutions we're doing to implement in a way that is digestible to both our business stakeholders and the engineering team that needs to implement it.
Two features beyond basic flowcharting every team should consider leveraging are:
- Shared folders to make permission management and discovery of historical artifacts easy.
- Commenting to allow for easy coloration and feedback.
- Making Flow Chart Easy
- Sharing Flowcharts With Teammates
- Collaborating on Flow Charts with multiple people
- Sharing is very convoluted and confusing when I'm trying to share a single document. It would be beneficial if there was a request access feature similar to google docs if you don't have access to a specific chart but have the link
- Handling of nested flowcharts to abstract complex but drill down when needed. Simulink has a decent strategy for this and would like to see something similar in Lucidchart
- Link related charts together so I can easily tie different versions of a process together over time
It is not well suited for creating detailed flow charts with many layers of complexity and interconnectivity as there is not great way to link sub-systems to parent systems or connect related systems together.
- Very high customisability, ability to change the layout and content quickly.
- Very intuitive UI with minimum learning threshold for most basic use cases.
- Accessibility across platforms and devices.
- More intuitive export to other tools/formats.
- More/better incentives to upgrade from free version.
However, if you need something with a very high degree of graphic editing and formatting (more Canva-like use cases), this is probably not the best solution.

Lucidchart Really Helps
- User journey flowcharts
- Wireframes
- Card sorting and content mapping
- I wish I could share in-progress documents without collaborators needing an account
- A tracked changes option for group work
- Animated flowcharts
A cut above the rest
- Swim lane diagrams
- Wire frame designs
- Brainstorming
- Process interaction
- Flow charts
- Fish bone technique
- None observed so far
1. Creating a road map to digitalize company processes
2. Streamline and prioritize strategic objectives
3. Map out work tasks and determine best method of execution for work processes
4. Create professional wire frame designs 5. Access tools to encourage brainstorming and innovation
6. Map processes to visualize intended output
Lucidchart has been so useful during the pandemic
- Providing free templates for users
- Connecting shapes to other shapes and being able to align them with an onscreen ruler
- I think the homepage when you log into Lucidchart is not very intuitive. I recommend that it has the same format as SharePoint where you can list all files out and group them into folders.
Lucidchart is a great tool
- Org Charts
- Data Flows
- Process diagrams
- Ease of use
- Tutorials
- More templates
- Customization of colors
Using Lucidspark for Classroom Teaching
- Provides a more free-flowing design than mind mapping software
- Allows for long-form text to illustrate points in the diagram
- Allows for sharing of diagrams through a shared link
- Offers templates and examples for great-looking diagrams
- Allows for different kinds of informational structures (timelines, progressions, lists, etc)
- Some of the features (such as grouping objects) are not as intuitive as they could be
- There should be pricing options for individual usage with sharing but not collaboration
- Lucid seems focused on the business market. It would be great to have something tailored toward education
The convenient collaborative tool!
- Sorting of category wise ideations.
- Colour coding notes and information.
- User friendly collaboration with teammates across boards.
- Dots in background are large enough to distract the user while zooming on boards.
- File size limit can be extended for free version for the user to test it to understand its potential.
- Lack of user friendly desktop application.
Useful, versatile, and easy to use software for all industries planning and diagramming
- Diagram blocks.
- Variety of layouts.
- Extensive environment options.
- Save files in multiple platforms.
- Expand manufacturing blocks.
- Improve the free software version.
- Add interactive blocks.
The best way to make Flowcharts
- Wireframing
- Flowcharts
- Process Charts
- The pricing can be reduced.
- The overall user experience can be improved.
- Free version has very limited features.
Keep it simple, keep it clear, Lucidchart is here.
- Flow mapping for processes.
- Differentiating between object types.
- Allowing for comments on certain sections.
- The basics are really intuitive, but I am not aware of how to better utilise newer or more advanced features.
- Anytime a paid user makes a premium object in a shared chart, free users are unable to edit.
- I would like for some feature to better align my objects, maybe to a set distance on the board.
Lucidchart is easy to use, efficient and to the point even after having loads of features
- Lucidchart has a selection of various flowchart boxes, iOS and Android device UIs, ER diagram schemas readily available for our use.
- Easy to select the arrows, lines, colors, fonts and sizes as per our requirements.
- Easy to export our diagrams into numerous formats like PNG, PDF, Visio, etc.
- Easy to share an editable version of our diagrams with other members in our organization by simply entering their email and sending them an invite to the chart.
- Auto complete and spell check are the areas that could be added.
- ER Diagrams.
- Architecute Diagrams.
- Designs.
- UI Mockups.
- Logic flow charts.
- Any other diagrams of any sort.
Better than Powerpoint, but not perfect.
- Scales elements when required.
- Provides a range of export options.
- Runs in a browser.
- Seemingly infinite undo functionality.
- Cannot trust cropping when exporting, needs to be verified and manually forced.
- Have not been able to animate my charts yet.
- Needs deeper library of shapes for technical charts.
- Needs to update shape libraries when required, should be within 6 months of terms or shapes changing.
- Does not snap lines so that they are perfectly superimposed.
- Cannot save projects for sharing.
- It would be nice where shape libraries are versioned, to be able to update en-masse as if the shapes were referenced or linked.
- Find and replace fo shapes, not just text.
Easy to use and simple to read
- Simple to use
- Great templates
- Clear layouts
- Easier to locate walk-throughs
- More features to be used for free
- Click to use icons, rather than dragging
Helpful for network engineers
- Network Diagrams
- Flow charts
- Topologies
- I cannot select and move multiple objects at once.
- The object limit on free samples is not good I feel.
- There should be more documentation to allow new users to get used to Lucidchart.
